I actually asked this myself. How can I improve the PageRank (PR) of my website? My last check gave this blog a PageRank of 1 out of 10 (PR 1/10). I checked Google, Yahoo, facebook and they got 10/10, 9/10 and 9/10 respectively. The No. 1 freelancing site, GetAFreelancer, is only at 5/10.
Seeing these figures, I asked myself again, 'How to improve PageRank' and so I did a search and found out some answers which some are already known to me. I will sum them up below:
1. Provide quality content on your site - the site visitors deserves nothing less
2. Submit site or blog to online directories - some online directories are free while others require small fee. Having our site in directories gives your site exposure.
3. Ask quality sites to link to you - incoming links from quality sites implies that your site is of the same quality as of the source site. These quality sites link to you because your site and their sites share the same level of importance.
Check this out: FREE Link Exchange4. Review sites before you link to them - search engines, base on rules beyond our control, are blocking sites. If you link to a blocked site, this will greatly affect your PageRank.
5. Last on my list but I'm convinced the most important, your site must exist to help people. Keep your site up to date, keep it with valuable information that offers timeless help to your visitors. You might have help a batch of visitors today and you may still be helping yet another batch of new visitors tomorrow. Keep it that way and traffic will be driven to your site without you knowing it is happening.
